100 Treasures, 100 Stories. Private Worlds
The publication focuses on historical and popular motifs in collecting, painting, and literature that remain widely appreciated in China and across East Asia, but are now less familiar in Europe. It serves as a companion to the exhibition 100 Treasuers, 100 Stories, held in 2025 at the National Museum in Prague, which presented rare objects from the imperial collections of the Qing dynasty. Chinese emperors collected works of art in much the same way as the European aristocracy. They regarded them not only as a display of power, but also as a means of engaging in a dialogue with history and the values they deeply cherished.
